A Memorable KSLZAA Road Trip to KSF Headquarters
On Sunday, October 12, 2025 the KSLZAA road tripped to the Kappa Sigma International Headquarters in Charlottesville for a facility tour, a lunch of pizza, a formal meeting, and a model initiation ceremony. Following the events at KSF Headquarters, several brothers enjoyed a post-visitation social gathering in west Richmond at the Hardywood Park Craft Brewery.
The day prior to the visitation the EC gathered near Charlottesville for a self-funded overnight retreat to discuss and develop prioritized action plans for the next three years. A primary action item will be for the KSLZAA to become a resource to Kappa Sigma International Headquarters regarding the ritual proficiency within our and neighboring districts, aiding chapters and colonies alike.
Another action item will be to implement a member-get-a-member style campaign to encourage more participation in events, increase general KSLZAA chapter involvement, and grow the active member rolls.
In support of that membership initiative it has been determined that a survey program be utilized in polling the membership to determine exactly what kinds of events they find most appealing going forward.
Other ideas and initiatives were discussed, and will be addressed following due diligence.
The retreat brainstorming sessions concluded with a delicious dinner prepared by chef Brad Welles which was followed by the trading of L-Z war stories over cigars and a sampling of Kentucky’s best.
All in all, it was a very memorable weekend of brotherhood. Thanks to all brothers who attended.
NEWS: Alumni Brothers and Family Members Gather for Great Food and Fun at the 2025 KSLZAA Annual Alumni Picnic
The 2025 Alumni Picnic was another successful event for the KSLZAA. It had sixteen in attendance for another great afternoon of reconnecting, sharing, and celebrating the bonds of Kappa Sigma. Members attended from the original first pledge class to our newest recent graduates as we all shared meaningful moments of why we joined and what it has meant to us.
A big thank you to Brother Bill Johnson for once again hosting under his pavilion and serving up his incredible BBQ, sides, and cold beverages — a true highlight of the event.
This year’s Alumni Brother of the Year honor went to brother Kevin Jones, recognizing his outstanding commitment with 8 consecutive years of service on the Executive Committee. A well-earned recognition for his dedication and leadership as he steps down for the new EC leadership.
Thanks to all who attended and helped make this year’s picnic a success.

NEWS: KSLZAA Celebrate a Big VCU Rams Homecoming Game Win Over George Mason
The KSLZAA celebrated VCU Homecoming with a pregame social at Home Team Grill, Rams game for the A10 lead vs George Mason, and a bourbon tasting at Tracy Marks’ home in southwest Richmond. The events were attended by some 25-30 Lambda-Zetas including several of our youngest alumni brothers. A terrific day of brotherhood.
NEWS: Undergrads In Good Standing Elevated to Alumni Brothers
Following the spring 2024 suspension of the Lambda-Zeta chapter by VCU and Kappa Sigma national, 33 undergraduates were determined to be clear of any wrongdoing by leadership in Charlottesville. With no opportunity for re-colonization/chapter activities until 2028 these undergraduates now qualify as alumni brothers.
In early October each of the 33 undergraduates were informed, via email, that they are in effect members of the KSLZAA. Each were offered Active Member status with the KSLZAA covering their first year dues. Brothers Braedon Dofflemyer, Connor McCreary, and Michael Dayo have responded in the affirmative and have been added to our Active Member roles.
NEWS: Thanks to KSLZAA Brothers for Their Support of Activities and Community Service in 2025
The EC would like to thank all alumni who have participated in social, service, and fundraising activities this year. We hope that regular outreach with social media, email, website, and video conferencing will increase participation even more.
Please remember that while all activities are open to the general population of our alumni brothers, paying annual dues (of $25) insures one’s ability to cast votes in Special and Annual meetings. Dues help cover administrative costs and provide budget to stage social events. Please contact GT Brad Welles at ks.lz.gt@gmail.com for more information.
