Hitting the Links for a Great Cause in 2026
The 2026 Kappa Sigma Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, held on May 2, 2026, was a tremendous success. We were blessed with great weather, outstanding participation, excellent volunteers, and fantastic food provided by Brothers Bill Johnson and Brad Welles.
New in our 7th year, the tournament continues to fund the Will Sheffey Kappa Sigma Memorial Scholarship at the VCU School of Business.
This year marked exciting changes for the tournament. For the first time, we played at Mill Quarter Plantation Golf Course and expanded the event from 9 holes back to a full 18-hole tournament. While the course was a little farther from Richmond than in previous years, it proved to be an excellent choice.
The course was in decent condition for the Spring — especially the greens — and the staff was accommodating and welcoming. The management invited us back again in the future, offered very reasonable pricing, and allowed us to bring in our own food and beverages, something that is rare among golf courses today, especially for the limited number of courses willing to host tournaments on a Saturday.
Everyone seemed pleased with the overall experience and fellowship throughout the day. Congratulations to our Low Net Score champions, Brothers Brad Welles and Bill Johnson. Congratulations also go to our second-place finishers, Doc Corrieri and Sean Dunfee.
Participants included: Aden Smith, Alex Richlin, Kevin Jones, Joshua Jones, Lu Codespotti, Braedon Dofflemyer, Brad Welles, Bill Johnson, Ryan Marks, Tracy Marks, Austin Marks, Chris Morehead, Lavell Little, Travis Hughes, Stephen Joslyn, James Joslyn, Roger Richardson, Ashby Carver, Kevin Taylor, Eric Director, Doc Corrieri, and Sean Dunfee.
One of the most meaningful moments of the day was honoring the late Scott Hall with the 2026 Brother of the Year Award. A special thank you to Kim Hall for coming out to support the event, driving the beverage cart throughout the tournament, and accepting the award on Brother Scott’s behalf.
In total, we had 22 golfers and 7 volunteers participate in this year’s event. Final fundraising totals for the scholarship program will be published soon, along with a survey for all participants and volunteers so we can continue improving the tournament for years to come.
Thank you again to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, donated, and helped make this year’s tournament such a memorable success.
A Great Day of Fun at the 2026 Homecoming Basketball Game
The KSLZAA 2026 VCU Homecoming events on February 28, 2026 provided a full day of fellowship, school spirit, and reconnecting with brothers and friends of the chapter.
The day began with the VCU Homecoming Pre-Game Celebration at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. Before the official festivities and basketball game, several brothers and guests gathered for breakfast and enjoyed a special behind-the-scenes tour of the VCU Basketball training facilities. The tour gave attendees a firsthand look at the resources and commitment that help attract top student-athletes and prepare the Rams basketball program to compete at the highest level.
Alumni brothers and guests attending the pre-game activities included Ernie Staton and his two sons, Lu Codispoti, Jay Schlueter, Matt Senkow, Thad Chilton, Kevin Taylor and his wife Kathy, Brad Welles, Bill Johnson, Mike Chaney, Craig Corrieri, and Tracy Marks.
We were especially pleased to be joined by representatives from the VCU School of Business, Laura Ruxton and David Kraft, as well as Amany Bouali, recipient of the 2025–2026 Will Sheffey Kappa Sigma Scholarship. Amany was extremely engaging, gracious, and appreciative of the support provided through the scholarship program, and it was wonderful for our alumni to meet and spend time with her.
Following the pre-game festivities, brothers and guests attended the VCU Homecoming Basketball Game where the Rams delivered an impressive 82–63 victory over Fordham in front of an energized homecoming crowd at the Siegel Center.
In our largest attendance of the day, we were joined by: Bob Milburn, Thad Chilton, Kevin Taylor, Kathy Taylor, Elisa Taylor, Alan Rogers, Monica Rogers, Bill Johnson, Lu Codispoti, Braedon Dofflemyer, Jay Schlueter, Matt Senkow, Jason Cook, Mandy Harper, Mike Chaney, Tracy Marks, Chad Boyd, Lauren Collins, Jon White, Martha White, Joseph McCullough, Finley McCullough, Orin McCullough, James Van Zee, Craig Corrieri, Travis Hughes, Brad Welles, Joe Dailey, Jean Dailey, Jace Staton, Lane Staton, and Ernie Staton.
The day concluded with a post-game social gathering at Hardywood Craft Brewery in Richmond’s historic Scott’s Addition district. Several brothers and guests continued the fellowship and celebration while enjoying time together in a relaxed atmosphere following the big VCU victory.
Thanks to the Brothers who Celebrated Founders Day on the Zoom Call-In
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 8:00 PM a group of Lambda-Zeta alumni brothers met on Zoom to lift a glass and toast KSF Founders Day.
Updates were provided on EC initiatives including the October visitation and model initiation at Kappa Sigma headquarters in Charlottesville, relations with KSF HQ, Kevin Taylor’s newly appointed role as Assistant DGM, the formation of a ritual proficiency team in service to KSF HQ, relations with VCU, and outreach/communications with HQ and other alumni chapters.
Brothers briefed the gathering on news of fellow alumni and updated the gathering on personal events of note. Naturally, there was a healthy dose of tales of days-gone-by. The call-in ran nearly two hours.

A Memorable KSLZAA Road Trip to KSF Headquarters
On Sunday, October 12, 2025 the KSLZAA road tripped to the Kappa Sigma International Headquarters in Charlottesville for a facility tour, a lunch of pizza, a formal meeting, and a model initiation ceremony. Following the events at KSF Headquarters, several brothers enjoyed a post-visitation social gathering in west Richmond at the Hardywood Park Craft Brewery.
The day prior to the visitation the EC gathered near Charlottesville for a self-funded overnight retreat to discuss and develop prioritized action plans for the next three years. A primary action item will be for the KSLZAA to become a resource to Kappa Sigma International Headquarters regarding the ritual proficiency within our and neighboring districts, aiding chapters and colonies alike.
Another action item will be to implement a member-get-a-member style campaign to encourage more participation in events, increase general KSLZAA chapter involvement, and grow the active member rolls.
In support of that membership initiative it has been determined that a survey program be utilized in polling the membership to determine exactly what kinds of events they find most appealing going forward.
Other ideas and initiatives were discussed, and will be addressed following due diligence.
The retreat brainstorming sessions concluded with a delicious dinner prepared by chef Brad Welles which was followed by the trading of L-Z war stories over cigars and a sampling of Kentucky’s best.
All in all, it was a very memorable weekend of brotherhood. Thanks to all brothers who attended.
NEWS: Alumni Brothers and Family Members Gather for Great Food and Fun at the 2025 KSLZAA Annual Alumni Picnic
The 2025 Alumni Picnic was another successful event for the KSLZAA. It had sixteen in attendance for another great afternoon of reconnecting, sharing, and celebrating the bonds of Kappa Sigma. Members attended from the original first pledge class to our newest recent graduates as we all shared meaningful moments of why we joined and what it has meant to us.
A big thank you to Brother Bill Johnson for once again hosting under his pavilion and serving up his incredible BBQ, sides, and cold beverages — a true highlight of the event.
This year’s Alumni Brother of the Year honor went to brother Kevin Jones, recognizing his outstanding commitment with 8 consecutive years of service on the Executive Committee. A well-earned recognition for his dedication and leadership as he steps down for the new EC leadership.
Thanks to all who attended and helped make this year’s picnic a success.

NEWS: KSLZAA Celebrate a Big VCU Rams Homecoming Game Win Over George Mason
The KSLZAA celebrated VCU Homecoming with a pregame social at Home Team Grill, Rams game for the A10 lead vs George Mason, and a bourbon tasting at Tracy Marks’ home in southwest Richmond. The events were attended by some 25-30 Lambda-Zetas including several of our youngest alumni brothers. A terrific day of brotherhood.
NEWS: Undergrads In Good Standing Elevated to Alumni Brothers
Following the spring 2024 suspension of the Lambda-Zeta chapter by VCU and Kappa Sigma national, 33 undergraduates were determined to be clear of any wrongdoing by leadership in Charlottesville. With no opportunity for re-colonization/chapter activities until 2028 these undergraduates now qualify as alumni brothers.
In early October each of the 33 undergraduates were informed, via email, that they are in effect members of the KSLZAA. Each were offered Active Member status with the KSLZAA covering their first year dues. Brothers Braedon Dofflemyer, Connor McCreary, and Michael Dayo have responded in the affirmative and have been added to our Active Member roles.
NEWS: Thanks to KSLZAA Brothers for Their Support of Activities and Community Service in 2025
The EC would like to thank all alumni who have participated in social, service, and fundraising activities this year. We hope that regular outreach with social media, email, website, and video conferencing will increase participation even more.
Please remember that while all activities are open to the general population of our alumni brothers, paying annual dues (of $25) insures one’s ability to cast votes in Special and Annual meetings. Dues help cover administrative costs and provide budget to stage social events. Please contact GT Brad Welles at ks.lz.gt@gmail.com for more information.
