If You Build It They Will Come

April’s Virtual 3rd Thursday was a resounding success. It was amazing to see so many brothers jump at the opportunity to join in on the conversation via Google Meet on desktop/mobile and via phone.

TURN OUT

Twenty-three brothers joined, spanning the decades. We heard from everyone, including the usual suspects (EC). We were also joined by brothers from New York, Texas, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania — among other locales. Eric Director tried, unsuccessfully, to hail Darren Santos, knowing, "I know you're home, MF." (Eric did not utter the expletive, but it sounds more dramatic if he did, wouldn't you agree?).

Attendees included but were not limited to; Alan Rogers, Andrew Hagy, Bert Short, Chris Moorehead, Craig Corrieri, Don Doyle, Eric Director, Frank Weber, Jeff Arthur (and daughter), Jim VanZee, Kenny Willey, Kent Walker, Kevin Jones, Kevin Taylor, Mark Hailey, Mike Jacobson, Monirom Southakakoumar, Saif Khan, Scott Hall, Steve Twombly, and Sunil Chandukar. (Some of you escaped my best efforts to capture you in a screenshot.)

BROTHER COMMENT

A good 45 minutes was spent doing what brothers do when they congregate. We caught up on each other's lives, shared undergraduate anecdotes, and compared our beverages of choice. And while some of us joined in on the conversation, others expressed themselves in the chat window while some of us preferred to be muted and soak in the virtual bonfire of brotherhood. Craig (KSLZAA GM) then took a moment to remind everyone of the current state of our organization. With reminders as to why events like the Sheffey Endowment Golf Tournament was being moved to October, Craig also touched upon the upcoming 2021 Celebration of Kappa Sigma's 50th Anniversary at VCU.

STEVE TWOMBLY and FRIENDS

At the peak of the event, Steve Twombly and his friends graced us with a multi-song set covering the 70s straight through the 2009s. For those unaware, Steve is a professional musician and a veteran of several bands, the most recent being the Mud Puppies based out of Virginia Beach. Some of you may remember Steve was vital in putting together the event we had at the Canal in Richmond, VA in 1991, or was it 2001 (I'm sure someone will correct me.)

MORE VIRTUAL 3rd THURSDAYS

We will be hosting more of these Virtual 3rd Thursdays for as long as our current situation exists. Until the next 3rd Thursday, take care of yourself and your families. Stay safe Brothers. AEKDB.
